The cross is an implement of destruction, the cross enables you to die to self, it is the rejection of the world. When I take up my cross I am being rejected and hated by the world because I follow Jesus. I am making a bold declaration that Jesus is my Lord, Savior, and God and if that means that the world will despise me because of Him then so be it.

Sadly this is the feeling that a lot of people have, and it is incorrect. God is not lucky to have you, and serving Him is more than a Sunday morning drop in. Jesus says that if you are going to follow me you must deny you. To deny myself is to deny my own ambitions, desires, and wants. It is to deny what I want to do in favor of doing what God would have me to do.
